Inspiration Piece #2

The above link will take you to a page that describes how to make a paper airplane.  The page includes a description of the necessary materials needed when making a paper airplane.  It then goes into a brief step-by-step process on how to create your own paper airplane.

One day, I was very bored in my dorm room so I Googled "Ways to Keep Myself Busy."  I stumbled upon the idea of making airplanes out of paper, and thought to myself, "Wow, this is cool."  I then used up several pieces of notebook paper on making paper airplanes.

This particular genre, a step-by-step instructions manual, is used in many different ways.  It can be used to describe how to build something, how to cook something, how to create something, or even how to tie a tie.  The normal conventions for the genre of step-by-step instructions include, but are not limited to: having a list of the materials used in the process and having the instructions listed in order.  Some instructions have each step numbered starting from the number one increasing by increments of one, where as others use bullet points, or letters of the alphabet.  This example uses numbers increasing by one.

Considering that the topic is, "How to Make a Paper Airplane," we can infer that the target audience is anyone old enough to use the computer to find the link.  Even then, it can be targeted at younger kids.  It is safe to assume that anybody able to fold paper is qualified to use these step-by-step instructions.
